Description

Cone beam computed tomography (CBCT) is increasingly used in dentistry, but many dentists lack expertise in interpreting head-and-neck images. Dentists should possess basic skills for image interpretation, involving perception to recognize abnormalities and cognition to interpret them. CBCT images capture diverse regions of interest, demanding a comprehensive understanding of the anatomy in the head and neck. Failure to identify and report incidental findings unrelated to the initial purpose of the CBCT study, especially if pathological, can pose medical risks for patients and legal consequences for the practitioner. It emphasizes the importance of responsibility in using this powerful diagnostic tool..
